Jet Skis, Bikinis and Salutes

The water broke a path behind her as she raced onwards. There were whistles and hoots and hollers on the lakeshore.  She continued, oblivious to the cheers. Her path reflected a straight line across the bay. She was riding her jet ski.

And she was 91 years old.

There is a bravery that exists. A willingness to embrace life to its fullest.

This was a woman who had a real zest for life...

She was the first to start cocktail hour. Her face in a wide grin, eyes twinkling, as she took in family around her. Her favorite phrase was "My cup runneth over".  Her favorite bathing suit cover up was a cartoon drawing of a sexy bikini which made it look like she was wearing it.  She was full of energy and the life of the party.

And she was 85 years old.

There is a love for living that we in our younger years often lack. A wisdom that life is too short to spend it regretting past actions and looking forward to future events.

Life for them is the here and now...

He ran the store just down the road. Each time you entered you were greeted with a genuine smile and a casual salute. He talked about the old days but was the first to tell you the latest neighborhood news. He could help you pick out the perfect birthday card. He was feisty and fun.

And he was 88 years old.

It is possible to imitate this behavior. To learn before it's too late that you must participate in life in order to enjoy it.

You can start young and carry it throughout your years...

She had learned from her teachers. She jumped in head first with her eyes wide open. She appreciated the joys of each day and let go of the sorrows. She was a riot to be around and found the many ways to get into mischief.

And she was 38.

This really hit a chord with me. I feel like for so many years I have suppressed so much of myself to please others. Now that I am coming back to who I am I feel much better. I admire those women and aspire to be that way.

These people are very inspiring. I've always wanted to go rock-climbing. Now I can not let age stand in the way. Now I can not make excuses because of age. Now I can not say that I'm too old to do that.

BTW, I'm adding you to my blogroll in "The Big Picture--A Novel" so that I can easily come to visit your blog at the click of the mouse. Hehehe.

I am in awe of the way you can give us a peak into each of these wonderful people's lives and inner worlds with only few lines of prose each.

There's a certain positive energy that emanates here and thought-out your blog (and I'm sure your life). It is so good to have you back, radiating light into an oft empty and self absorbed (yep...that's sometimes me:) blogoshere. You were missed!

These inspiring women let you know that it's never too early and never too late. You can make a difference in this world at any age.
Peace. :)
